The Neighbourhood Kitchen, Coffee & Bottle Shop in Attadale is a hybrid spot that blends a lively café and espresso bar with a well-curated liquor and wine store, making it more than just your average pit stop for coffee. Located on Moreing Rd, it serves as a local hub where morning routines and weekend brunches cross paths with a casual evening pick-up for a bottle of wine or craft beer.

During daylight hours, this place buzzes with locals grabbing expertly brewed coffees like a long macchiato or settling in with hearty breakfast and lunch options. The menu offers a good balance of classic and inventive dishes—the sweet potato dahl, roast vegetable salad, and açai bowls (including a “naughty” version for those after something richer) showcase a thoughtful approach to brunch. Many come for the generous portions of crowd favorites like the beef brisket hash or the Neighbourly breakfast, which packs a bit of everything into a satisfying plate. If you’re after something quick and wholesome, the mushroom trio or scrambled eggs hit the spot without fuss.

Most visitors arrive mid-morning or early afternoon, often locals slipping in before work or meeting friends over leisurely weekend coffee. While the café can get quite busy—even on weekdays—the seating can feel tight, particularly in the sunny front area, which would benefit from more loungy setups or weather protection like rain covers and heaters for cooler days. This hints that the indoor space maximizes utility, but outdoor comfort could use some attention.

The staff strike a nice balance of friendly and efficient, though a slight wait is to be expected during busier times, especially for heartier dishes like the brisket. Coffees are highlighted repeatedly, showing that this spot’s espresso bar roots remain strong, and locals tend to visit regularly just for their daily brew, even if food isn’t on the agenda every time.

Beyond the café vibe, the attached bottle shop provides a convenient stop for takeaway wine or liquors, making it easy to pick up a drink for later without veering far from the neighborhood. This combination gives it a neighborhood feel where running errands and dining out blend seamlessly.

In summary, The Neighbourhood Kitchen suits those who appreciate well-made coffee coupled with a solid brunch menu that’s approachable but thoughtfully put together. It’s a go-to for local regulars who value both caffeine and casual bites in a familiar, no-frills setting. Mid-mornings on weekends or weekday mornings before work offer the best chance at snagging a spot, while evenings or cold weather might find the outdoor areas less inviting until they beef up their weatherproofing. For visitors, it’s a spot that feels truly part of Attadale’s daily rhythm rather than an out-of-the-way destination.

Such great food! We are locals and come here often but usually only for coffees. This place is always busy. We were here on a Monday and most of the tables were taken. We wish they had a few more tables/lounge area at the front in the sun. Side note, I wish this cafe had a reward/point system or incentive for coffees. And, rain cover and heaters for outside tables- this would make us come here more in winter.

On my first visit I ordered the sweet potato dahl which was a bit bland, could have used more seasoning, the service was reasonably quick. On my second visit I ordered the brisket which was delicious and very filling, however I waited 50 minutes for it to come out. After about 30 minutes one of the staff came over and checked to see what I ordered and came back a few minutes later and apologised for the wait and said it wouldn’t be much longer and that I wouldn’t have to pay for it. On another visit the waiter had forgotten to put my order through but offered me a free drink off the menu. The menu has a lot of different options to choose from although I did find it a little expensive but I thought the portions were reasonable.

Great service, fantastic food with a lovely atmosphere. I couldn't have had for a better place to have my first brunch in Australia with their signature breakfast dish the Neighbourly breakfast- eggs of your choice, bacon, smashed avocado, roast cherry tomatoes, roast garlic/herb mushrooms, chorizo & toast. A fab brewed coffee double espresso to complement my brunch. Many thanks!

The Neighbourhood Kitchen and Coffee – A Brunch Done Right Perched on a prime corner, The Neighbourhood Kitchen and Coffee offers a welcoming, cozy atmosphere with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Aesthetic? Spot on. But the real question—does the food live up to it? Drinks – A Strong Start We started with a cappuccino and an iced mocha. The cappuccino was smooth, rich, and perfectly foamed—no bitterness, no weak spots. The iced mocha? A perfect balance of coffee and chocolate, velvety smooth without being overly sweet. Off to a great start. Food – Flavour, Execution, and Those Potatoes Pulled Pork Hash The pulled pork was cooked beautifully—tender, full of flavor, and not drowning in sauce. But the real star? Lemon herb salted crispy potatoes—golden, crunchy perfection. Paired with poached eggs, chimichurri, and Parmesan, this dish was bold, balanced, and incredibly satisfying. The Neighbourly Breakfast A classic big breakfast can be a test of execution, and this one passed with flying colors. The toast was crisp, the bacon smoky and well-cooked, and the scrambled eggs fluffy and buttery. And again—those crispy potatoes stole the show. Service – The Game Changer Food aside, the best part? Andi, our server. Attentive without hovering, warm, and genuinely invested in making our experience great. An absolute asset to the team. Final Verdict – A Must-Visit With expertly brewed coffee, top-tier brunch dishes, and standout service, The Neighbourhood Kitchen and Coffee is a winner. A solid 9/10, with those crispy potatoes alone nearly pushing it to a 10. If you’re after a quality brunch spot, this is the place to be. Highly recommended.
